I’ve gone 3 times for brunch within a month and loved it every time. My favourite dishes were the pancakes and the grits. The pancakes are fluffy and tasty, the granola nut crumble on them is divine. The grits was such a surprisingly flavourful dish, with a crunchy chili oil and some fresh herbs and pickled veggies to really bring it all together. The cocktails are original and so delicious, carefully crafted to highlight every flavour. This is an instant favourite and I will be visiting for dinner soon. The space is rather small but the restaurant opens 50% of its tables for reservations and keeps the rest available for walk-ins. This makes it easy to show up on the day. The decor is minimalist, elegant and cozy.

Celebrated my birthday dinner at La Petite Primerose and it was exceptional. We sat outside on a beautiful summer evening. The ambiance was warm and intimate, the food absolutely delicious. The chef came out to speak with us, and we were blown away to learn they grind their own wheat to bake fresh bread daily. That level of care and craft is rare. A truly memorable night and we’ll be back

On a breezy and warm Saturday night, my dear friend and I rode are Dutch bicycles over to this little gem in the old emplacement EDGAR ( Marysol Foucault restaurant) in Gatineau ( Hull). As we were sat in a corner, I requested that it may be better to sit at the bar to witness wonder before our eyes. Alas, no spot was available. On to the cocktails then! My goodness now that was a chill martini ( gin with Meyer lemon and ice chips!!) DELIGHTFUL!! The service was warm and attentive. The ambiance struck the perfect balance between cozy and chill— Soft music permeated and couples starry-eyed into each other eyes all night. A quiet hush… As we sipped, the sommelier /co- owner came over and shared that a spot at the bar was available, so we joyfully moved, and it was an added moment to our soirée. T. & I shared the tarte au foie gras, white turnip with nduja and a flavourful & fresh tomato and creamy cheese salad. ( Apologies for not remembering the exact cheese) yet we couldn’t stop raving about it. What really stood out was the attention to detail, both in the food and the service. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and sidenote - the other co-owner is a doppelganger of the British actor Mathew Good ( it was distracting , in a good way ) The wine selection is superb & niche in a great way ! A wine from Bécancourt QC stood out!! Highly recommend this place—can’t wait to come back!

We enjoyed a beautiful Saturday dinner at La Petite Primrose. It was a special gathering with friends visiting from out of town. We were all infatuated with the ceramics, steak knives and branded glassware, which along with the thoughtful service made for a warm and elegant experience. The wine list features many of my favourite producers alongside new discoveries. The cellar is beautifully curated and accessibly priced for how special these wines are. I came back for the melon dish (a favourite) and there were many new plates with bold flavour combinations and creative touches. Chef Lewis and team are incredibly talented and delivered a fantastic meal. Wines from thoughtfully grown grapes are served alongside dishes that showcase produce from some really cool farms. Primrose is a restaurant with a cohesive concept, playful experimentation and charming execution.

La Petite Primerose is the newest addition to the Hull food scene, taking over the cozy little spot formerly home to the beloved Restaurant Edgar (a place that held a special place in my heart). Naturally, I was excited to try it, knowing it had some big shoes to fill. • The space remains intimate and inviting, with a minimalist decor that feels both warm and unpretentious. It is a small restaurant, but the seating is comfortable, and the atmosphere is just right for a quiet brunch. • We visited on a Sunday morning and were immediately intrigued by the brunch small, seasonal menu. It is clear there is a lot of thought and creativity going into each dish with fresh, local ingredients, unique pairings, and a few unexpected twists. • We ordered a variety of items, including several sharing plates, allowing us to sample as much as possible and enjoy the meal family-style. • That said, while everything looked beautiful and showcased fresh ingredients, each dish seemed to fall just slightly short of its potential. The poached eggs were overcooked, the potatoes, for example, were a bit dry, and the accompanying yogurt sauce did not add enough sauciness to it required. The sweet potato pancakes were delicious in taste but very dry and crumbly. We ended up asking for extra syrup. The homemade sausage was flavorful but the whole peppercorns inside made for an unpleasant surprise when biting down. • While there were a few elements that did not quite hit the mark for us, it is clear that a lot of care and creativity goes into the food. The concept is thoughtful, the ingredients are fresh, and there is real potential here. • I am looking forward to seeing how the menu evolves as the restaurant finds its footing. I would be happy to return and explore more of what La Petite Primerose has to offer.

Truly a hidden gem. Chef Robinson’s creations were delicious and unexpected in the best way. All the dishes we tasted were exceptional, including my favourite (the tuna) with pickled raspberries. The wine selection was a lovely as well. You must try! Thank you for a great evening.

What a wonderful first visit. Sommelier Tristan and Chef Lewis have found a great recipe for a restaurant -- great food, great people, great atmosphere. We shared four plates and bread and were very satisfied with all. We had a nice glass of red and wine to match our plates. Unfortunately, we had no room for dessert. And we heard the peach offering was incredible from our bar-mate. Looking forward to returning soon and seeing a new different menu, as they change weekly.
